Lennon Studios, a centerpiece of SF’s music scene, has been sold.
Beloved for decades by local rockers as a music rehearsal and recording space, 271 Dore Street was a favorite stop for touring bands and provided a space for local talent to practice and record. Carole Lennon, a former punk rocker herself, founded the space in the early 1980s to give her kids a place to rehearse outside of her living room.
The studio later hosted legendary San Francisco bands such as Faith No More, the Dead Kennedys and 4 Non Blondes.
The new owner of the space is one of the city’s leading antique dealers: Claudio Mariani of Mariani’s Antiques. The list price was $4.195 million and the final sale price was $3,950,000.
